Most roofing material manufacturers offer a 30-year warranty on the material installed. While this is a long time, there are other manufacturers who offer higher quality material that can offer up to a 50-year warranty.

How can a homeowner recognize potential issues?

When planning on a roof replacement, no doubt there are many questions you have. We will address a few of these questions here.

When it comes to selecting roofing material, there are many different colors, styles, durability, and cost. There are several mobile apps by different roofing manufacturers that will allow you to take a picture of the front of your home, and “preview” what it will look like. You may also call a roofing contractor, as they have many sample boards of different colors and styles, and can go over longevity and price with you.

My roof leaks, do I need a full replacement?

Leaks are never good, however, it doesn’t always mean that you need a replacement. In many situations, the time left in the roof is taken into account, along with the severity of the leak. Generally, most leaks can be fixed by a roofing professional without a full replacement. Many things can contribute to a leak, that’s why it is important to periodically inspect your roof.

How long will it last?

Can I do the work myself?

Your roof is the most important component on your home. It keeps all of the outside elements away from every other component. If you are a successful DIY’r, you MAY be able to do the work with yourself without any issues. However, closely consider the money that you are saving, and if it’s worth it if you have issues down the road, and have to hire a roofing contractor to come replace a brand new roof. Is it worth it? When hiring a roofing contractor, make sure they offer a workmanship warranty, in case there are any issues, they can take care of it on their dime, not yours.

Many different things can happen to compromise a roof. Many homeowners don’t know what to look for, let alone where to start. It is best to invest a little bit of money now, and have a licensed roofer periodically perform a roof inspection (every 1-2 years)

If, however, you feel comfortable performing a roof inspection on your own, then stay tuned for our next blog post, which will be an inspection checklist you can perform by yourself.

FAQ’s About A New Roof

This is the number one question we get asked most. The only way to get an accurate cost, is to properly measure every surface, determine how many layers of roofing are being removed, how easy or difficult it will be to haul the waste out, and bring the new material in. Pitch is another large factor, the steeper the roof, the higher the difficulty. To get an accurate quote, you must call and schedule an appointment.
